Get Shredded With Intermittent Fasting

For those of you who are not familiar with intermittent fasting let me briefly explain what it is and how it works. So, intermittent fasting it is a way of spreading your meals throughout a day in a different manner that most people do, meaning that you will have an eating window and a fasting window. It is as simple as that.

People often think of intermittent fasting as a diet or starvation. That is wrong. Intermittent fasting does not tell you what to eat, what not to eat or how much to eat, it just tells you when to eat and when not to eat.

Fasting & eating windows

So, as I said above with intermittent fasting we have a fasting window (or fasting period) and an eating window (period). During the fasting window you do not consume any calories. This means you can’t eat at all. You can drink water of course, or dink diet sodas or black coffee – anything with zero calories.

During the eating period you eat your food. Now, the thing is that in order to get really shredded and maximize fat loss with intermittent fasting, most of the times you need to have a big fasting window like 16 to 19 hours a day. This means that you will have to eat your food in just 8 or even 5 hours, depending on how long you fast.

This may seem like a lot but it is really not that bad if you set your fasting in a smart way so that it fits your schedule. For example, if you would fast for 16 hours each day and your fasting period starts at 7 PM after, right after dinner, this means that you cannot eat anything until 11 AM the next day. That is not so difficult if you think about it, because a big portion of your fasting window is at night, while you sleep.

Typically your eating window should be post workout. Let’s say you workout in the morning so breaking your fast at about 11 AM would work great. On the other hand if you can’t workout in the morning with nothing in your stomach or you simply can’t workout in the morning at all for whatever reason, then you need to look at your daily schedule and arrange your eating and fasting windows so that it will fit in nicely.

Who should do intermittent fasting?

If you do not have a problem with losing weight easy and getting shredded just by working out and doing some cardio, then probably intermittent fasting is not for you. Generally speaking, IF is not for people with fast metabolism.

On the other hand, if you have trouble losing weight or if you put on weight easy and your metabolism is on the slow side, then you should definitely give intermittent fasting a try.
